The Highland mountains in Scotland is magical, blessed with postcard-perfect landscapes and valleys, this fairy tale mountain is more than enough to rejuvenate your life. If you feel you are down and having  a bad day, then take ride through the Highland trails and find happiness.  

1.    Burray to Kirkwall, Orkney


This cycle route passes through Orkney Islands of South Ronaldsay, Burray, Glimps Holm, and Lamb Holm, ending up at the Orkney capital of Kirkwall via the Churchill Barriers.  This amazing 18 kilometre cycle route takes you through four causeways that link the islands and also through the Italian Chapel on Lamb Holm. 


2.    The Hebridean Way Cycle Trail, Outer Hebrides


The 185 miles of cycle route starts from the Island of Vatersay in the south and ends in the Butt of Lewis in the north, the route runs through beautiful landscapes which makes it one off the best cycle trail in Scotland. 


3.    The Torridon Circuit, Northwest Highlands


Torridon Circuit is an off-road trail which is 28 mile long, the circuit has 900 metre climb, and often travellers might have to carry their bike.  This challenging but rewarding the trail is filled with picturesque mountains. 

 

4.    Glen Sligachan Trail, Isle of Skye 


This is beautiful but tough cycle route passes through  Glen Sligachan, past Loch Scavaig, and the beautiful mountains Marsco and Bla Bheinn, part of Skye’s Red Cuillin mountain range.  The 27 mile trail is blessed with stunning landscapes. 


5.    The Southern Borders Loop, Scottish Borders 


Located in the Scottish Boarders the 75 mile long cycle trail runs through landscapes that are postcard- perfect, it is the longest trail. If you are not interested in the longer trail you can select 50 mile. Open moorland, forests and amazing countryside makes it a refreshing cycle route. 


6.    Lerwick to Scalloway, Shetland 


The 10 kilometre trail starts from Shetland’s capital town of Lewick to the historic village Scalloway characterized by iconic ruined Scalloway castle.  The scenic views of the sea, hills and grasslands make it unforgettable trail. 


7.    The Loch Rannoch Circular, Perthshire 


The fairy tale trail of Loch Rannoch Circular is 23 miles long route starts and ends in The Square, Kinloch Rannoch in Balmore. This unbelievably beautiful landscape becomes more stunning during autumn, the trail is not that hard.  The trail is mainly located around the shore off Loch Rannoch next to Glencoe. 

 

8.    Assynt Achiltibuie Circular, Northwest Highlands 


The rolling hills, silent valleys small country roads with ruins of castles make this 70 miles long trail one of the best in Scotland.   The magnificent trail runs through the Assynt’s beautiful, scenic, spectacular and dramatic coast line, there is always a chance that you might meet some wildlife, which makes it special. 


9.    Gairloch and Loch Maree, Wester Ross 


Ride through the sixty scattered islands that are densely forested, the 17 mile long not so smooth trail passes through Slattadale Forest to the sandy beaches of Gairloch via Loch Maree. The landscape is amazing with rugged mountains and beautiful views. 

10.    4 Abbeys Cycle Route, Scottish Borders


Not interested in rugged mountains and remote islands then try this path filled with historical monuments.   The 55 mile circular route has moderate steep hills, the quite roads make it a perfect place find solitude. 4 Abbeys Cycle Route links the four main abbeys in the boarder of Scotland such as Melrose, Dryburgh, Kelso and Jedburgh.
