Devetashka Cave in Bulgaria

Daceto Petkova is a Bulgarian female traveller who travels around the world visiting marvellous and exotic locations. She recently visited the Devetashka Cave in Bulgaria, located 7 kilometres from Letnitsa and 15 km northeast of Lovech, near the village of Devetaki on the east bank of the river Osam, this amazing cave is rich in human history.  This natural landmark in Bulgaria was initially discovered by 1877 by British traveller J. Barker. 




Once home to the ancient humans, the cave has 70000 years of history making it one of the unique landmarks in the world.  The cave has traces of earlier human settlements, the ceramic pottery believed to be created in 6000 B.C and various bronze items proclaim the important part it played in our history.




Featured in the 2011 movie ‘The Expendables 2’, the massive cave has 2 kilometres in length, the huge entrance hall has 60 metres of height and inn places the ceiling is 100 metres above the ground. The seven massive holes through which the daylight enters the immense cave and illuminates the vast interior.


Arda River in   Bulgaria 

She even made a trip to the Arda River, a 290 kilometres long river located Bulgaria. The landscape is amazing, the Horseshoe Meander on Arda River in Rhodope Mountains is the most beautiful and exotic place to see in this region.
