Eravikulam National Park is the first national park in Kerala. Eravikulam is in Idukki district of Kerala closer to the famous tourist destination Munnar. It is notified as a national park for protecting the endangered and endemic Nilgiri Thar and it's habitat. Anyone visiting the place will get opportunity to see the Nilgiri Thar very closely . At the top of the hill where tourist are permitted one can see the mighty Rajamalai hills. But behind Rajamalai hills is the mighty Anamudi, which is the highest peak in South India is also in Eravikulam National Park but can't viewed from here. Another major attraction of the park is the Neelakurinji (Strobilanthes kunthiana ) which blooms in every twelve years and it will be a visual treat for everyone visiting the place by the nature. The hills will be like a blue mountain for three months and the next blooming is expected in the year 2018 in the month of September or October.
