Kallara Paddy fieldsBack

Kallara is a small village located in the Kottayam district which is famous for its paddy fields and serene environment. Kallara is a place to see in Kottayam, which is full of  acres of paddy fields that looks resembles the famous paddy fields of  Kuttanadu.   The area was famous for its laterite stones and that is how the area got its name kallara means the place with lots of stones.  The brooks, ponds and ducks swaying through the paddy fields makes it an ideal destination for family tours and small picnics.  The area has a fragile ecosystem which is rich flora and fauna.  There are birds such as kingfishers, darters, pond hero, Black Drongo, Parrots, Egret and various other migratory birds. The toddy shops are famous for fresh toddy and  sea food.
