Bekal Fort is a 300 years old fort , one of the largest and considered as the best preserved fort in the state of Kerala, India. It is situated on the seashore of Pallikara village and is 12 kilometers south of Kasaragod town. It is a noted place of tourist interest in the district and has a great historical and archeological importance. The scenery at Bekal is breath taking and alluring which makes the travelers to, come back again to this destination to enjoy the beauty of the fort. This circular shaped Fort made of laterite rock is 130 feet above sea level and occupies 35 acre headland that runs into Arabian Sea. There is renovated temple dedicated to Hanuman at the entrance of the Fort and an old mosque situated very next to the Fort, assumed to be founded by Tipu Sultan. The Bekal Fort Beach is situated 1 km from the Fort, covered in golden sands and surrounded by the coconut palm trees make it heaven for the travelers.
