A brief introduction to Munnar

Munnar the famous tourist spot in Kerala, the place where the Gods used their creativity too much, that the hill station is post card perfect and it is a must see destination in Kerala. The scenic meadows, sprawling tea plantations, deep valleys,, large and hidden waterfalls, flowers, animals, climate and the food attracts millions of travelers every year.  Munnar in the local language (Malayalam) means confluence of three rivers. The three rivers are Mudirapuzha, Nallathanni, Kundala. Munnar is part of the Idukki district in kerala , India. Munnar is known for its distinct climatic as the tempratures can plunge below zero degrees but normally stays within 5 to 24 degrees, and scenic beauty attracts tourist from all over the world. Neelakurinji ( Strobilanthes Kunthiana ) a flower that blooms once in twelve years is a specialty of Nilgiri hills, which bloomed last in 2006. Neelakurinji usually starts blooming in the month of August and last up to October. It is the home of the Endangered species called  Nilgiri Thars. There are many palces to see in Munnar and there are many things to do in Munnar. Travelers can trek , walk, swim, enjoy the scenic mountains or enjoy the famous Munnar tea, Munnar has everything that a traveler wants. Munnar is one of the best honeymoon destinations in India and the things to do list is a never ending one if you are in this magical land. The highest peak in South India is in the laps of Munnar, called Anamudi, a brilliant destination to hike and camp.  

Major destinations in Munnar includes Anamudi, Attukal, Chithirapuram, Devikulam, Lock heart gap, Echo point, Power house waterfalls, Rajamala, Mattupetty, Nyayamakkad, Pothemedu and Pallivasal, but the list is ever ending.
